To my colleagues in the Foundation of Early Childhood course I’d like to extend to each of you my best wishes as you take the next step toward obtaining your Masters in Early Childhood Studies. I have learned so much from so many of you. You have encouraged and inspired me in many ways. Let us all continue to strive to set the example for children and help them to become the best they can be.
Inspirations
People that I admire and/or look up to.
“Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual (child, family member, and colleague)”
“To advocate for and ensure that all children, including those with special needs, have access to the support services needed to be successful”.
“We shall care for and educate children in positive emotional and social environments that are cognitively stimulating and that support each child’s culture, language, ethnicity, and family structure”.
The code of ethics above are some of the most important things to be mindful of as a future early childhood professional.

“We shall demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, and honesty in all
our professional activities in order to inspire the trust and confidence of the children and families
and of those with whom we work”. ~ As a early childhood professional I want to lead by example and let my actions show the importance of moral and ethical principles.
“We shall honor and respect the diverse backgrounds of our colleagues including such diverse
characteristics as sexual orientation, race, national origin, religious beliefs, or other affiliations”.~ I think it is important to understand that every person is different for a variety of reasons and their personal preferences should not interfere with how they are treated.
“We shall be responsible for maintaining the appropriate national, state, or other credential or licensure requirements for the services we provide while maintaining our competence in practice and research by ongoing participation in professional development and education activities”. ~ It’s important to be in compliance with the state requirements but more importantly, it is a mandate for me to stay current with the field of early childhood.

This link is about a 2 year old boy that was hit in the head with a limb during Hurricane Sandy. He has a very serious brain injury. He was not expected to live however he is still fighting.
I wanted to share a picture of my sister because she is one of my inspirations. She has been teaching for 11 years. She has taught grades K-2. She has been the greatest role model for my younger sister and I. She has been such a supporter of me and my dreams. I hope to be as successful as she is as I embark on my journey to follow in her footsteps.
Working with children is something I have always wanted to do. However while watching “Black in America 2-Tomorrow’s Leaders” on CNN in 2009 really helped me realize how I wanted to work with them. Especially the feature on comedian Chris Rock’s wife Maalak Compton-Rock.
